In January, 2022 CMS established 5 new CPT for Remote Therapeutic Monitoring/Treatment Management (RTM). The CPT reimbursement codes for RTM are 98975, 98976, 98977, 98980, and 98981. With these codes, providers could reimburse for collecting and interpreting non-physiological data, therapy adherence, and therapy response.

Devices must transmit valid data that is reasonable and necessary to diagnose or treat and allow understanding of the patient’s health status to develop and manage a plan of treatment.

How to claim RTM codes with ComeBack Mobility WB service
Code 98975:
1. Download the mobile application ComeBack Mobility Doctor from AppStore or GooglePlay Market
2. Complete a simple registration (takes from 1 to 2 minutes).
3. Create a WB program by inputting the patient’s mobile phone number (takes 30 seconds) and the program, together with the mobile application, will automatically send to the patient via SMS.
4. Help the patient install crutch tips. Here is the installation instruction (1 to 3 minutes).
Remove the rubber tips from the crutches
Unscrew the fixing nut on Smart Crutch Tips
Put fixing nut on the crutch, followed by the plastic sleeve
Insert into the Smart Crutch Tip, to the bottom of device
By hand, firmly tighten the fixing nut
Total patient onboarding takes 2:30 to 5:30 min
CPT code 98977
1. Provider receives a notification on a mobile phone, after the completion of the WB program by the patient, click on the “Get Report” button (3-10 sec)
2. Send the rehabilitation report by email to a billing department or your mail if you submit the billing claims by yourself (takes 5-10 sec). Indicate the codes used 98975 and 98977 by generating the CBM Rehabilitation Report (takes 5-10 sec).
